TASTER SAILING SCHEME TO RAISE FUNDS
Maldon and
East Chelmsford MP John
Whittingdale
OBE joined two Burnham yachtsmen on the quay in Burnham to
launch a new 'taster' sailing scheme to raise funds for older people living
in Dengie. Local yacht owners Alan Tozer and Donald Neale are offering
taster sessions in their yacht Pekatajo on the river Crouch with donations
being presented to the Dengie Project Trust. Prospective sailors can either
learn about sailing or just relax out on the river.
The Southminster based Dengie
Project Trust
develops a range of support
services that help older people living at home across the Dengie peninsula
lead healthy fulfilling lives.
John
Whittingdale, who is a keen supporter of the Trust's work, said: "This
is a great example of partnership which not only assists a charity develop
its services but also enables local people to enjoy Burnham."
Bookings for taster sessions can be made through the Burnham Tourist
Information Centre Tel:
01621 784962.
